Corruption: An Analytical Approach

Abstract

Corruption has been the bane and the major challenge facing Nigeria over the years.  Other incidences such as bribery, graft, fraud, nepotism have all facilitated the facets of  corruption in Nigeria. Although corruption is a global menace, it is highly entrenched in  the Nigerian scene, which has affected socio-economic and political development. One of  the cardinal goals of the 1999 Constitution is that the state shall abolish all corrupt  practices and abuse of powers and measures are put in place to curtail corruption in the  bud, like the establishment of Independent Corrupt practices and Related Offences  Commission (ICPC) and Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), however,  corruption refused to be tamed in the country. The paper used content analysis method  and explores the incidence of corruption in Nigeria, more especially it causes,  dimensions and consequences were discussed and recommendations offered on how to  address the menace of corruption.
