Exploratory Survey of Training Needs Analysis in Katsina and Funtua Local Government Areas of Katsina State

This study is on the effect of training need analysis on staff performance in Katsina and Funtua local government areas of Katsina state. The research question raised in this regards is: How does training need analysis affect staff performance in Katsina and Funtua LGAs of Katsina state? To achieve this, the study used cross-sectional survey research design. The sample of 421 was selected from the 2039 using Sample Size Calculator of Creative Research System. Primary and secondary data were collected using structured questionnaire and interview. A simple regression analysis was employed to test the hypothesis using SPSS Version 23.0: The result revealed that training need analysis significantly influenced staff performance in Katsina and Funtua LGAs with a p value of 0.002. The p-value is less than 0.05, an indication that an increase in training need analysis leads to increase in staff performance. It was recommended that the management of the LGAs should conduct training need analysis to identify problems or inefficiencies in the LGAs and therefore enable it to resolve the issues of staff poor performance in the local government areas.
